Our book, The Pavilion Book, has been a steady seller from the day it was introduced, and we'd like to thank all of those who have bought and recommended it. We strive to make sure that your favorite book merchants will have copies.
We now stock Portable Holes! Click on this link for details.
Welcome to Dragonwing! If you've visited here before, please note
that a few things have been shuffled around and updated. To see

Back to Pennsic!
This is to let you all know that I will be going to Pennsic War again this year. I will be conducting the pavilion-making seminar again, and teaching a class on period encampments (the class handout can be found here). I'll also be teaching a class on how to camp safely and happily at SCA overnight events, using material also to be found on this web site. Please note, however, that Dragonwing will be closed for the duration of Pennsic, plus a week on either side to give me traveling time. Orders received during that time space won't be processed until I return from Pennsic. So keep that in mind if you're planning to order stuff from us this summer.
Our sunshade delivery schedule is also longer than usual, due to our sewpeople taking a well-deserved month off from mid-May to mid-June. So please allow for that extended lead time.
New Sunshade Color and Price Sheet

We've located a limited supply of our sunshade material in a rich purple color, and bought a huge roll of it while we could. You can find it here), along with the colors we usually stock. There's no additional cost for this color, although it costs us a little more to buy it. But we won't be able to count on getting this color in the future, so order as soon as you can to be sure of being one of the lucky few who'll be getting it.
Due to customer demand, we've also revised our price sheet. Don't worry ... prices haven't gone up. But with fuel prices and shipping costs going crazy, we've been getting questions like "What would it cost for everything but the poles?" or "What would it cost for just the sunshade fabric and the ropes?" So we now list the costs of the individual packages of stakes, ropes, poles, and fabric for each size. If you're not ordering the complete sunshade, but want more than just the fabric, you can calculate the cost of just the components you want.
Articles you can read, mostly on tentmaking and medieval tents
Our latest column is Toward a (More) Period Encampment
in which John explains some methods for giving your encampment a bigger part in your historical re-enactment activities
with prices. We've also included tent-making supplies such as
canvas, tent poles, and many sizes and styles of rope. We also sell a
pretty nifty firepit.
And ready for immediate sale. These are one-of-a-kind
creations, designed to be as beautiful and practical as we can make
them.
