Pyrotone canvas
This is the stuff we use for most of our tents due to its superior strength, longevity, and reluctance to absorb water. It's a cotton/polyester blend,13 oz in weight, and comes in 60" widths in a wide range of colors. This fabric is generally available in thirty-yard rolls only. However, our supplier sometimes has shorter rolls available, and we will be happy to find out what is available in the colors you need.
Pyrotone is treated for water repellence, mildew resistence, and fire retardence (to the California Fire Marshall's CPAI-84 standard) for the life of the fabric.

S-hooks

This S-hook is the same one we've used on our tents for the past fifteen years. It's 2-1/2" long from bearing surface to bearing surface, and made of six-gauge plated steel. $.20 per s-hook, or $2.00 per dozen.
Rope
Hemp rope is the most historically accurate material for ropes, and has good strength and a soft "hand" for easy knot-tying and handling. Manila rope is an inexpensive substitute for an historically plausible look, but is stiffer and has a pronounced "bristle" feel (although not as bad as sisal, which is also inexpensive and widely available). Finally, for those who are more concerned with stability, ease of hand, and resistence to stretch than historical verisimilitude, we offer a polyester "diamond" awning braid, recommended for applications where the rope must endure a higher load without stretching.

Rope slides
Rope slides for our 3/16" Polyester rope also work well with a 3/16" nylon rope. Made out of spring steel and plated for corrosion resistence, they are easy to adjust, yet hold their tension even under load. $1.50 per slide, or $15.00 per dozen.
Tent Stakes

Our tent stakes are hand forged, top and bottom, from 1/2" square stock for maximum strength and durability. Discounts are available for quantity orders; please call for details. |

Tent Stake Rings
These stake rings, when used as shown on the right, will greatly extend the life of your ropes, particularly if you use soft ropes (like hemp or cotton) or stakes made from square stock. These rings are 1" in diameter (measured on the inside), welded shut and chrome plated. They are now standard equipment on every sunshade rope set we make. Sold only in packages of ten. $2.50 per package of ten rings.
Storage Bags
Stake Bags
Our stake bags are made of 14 ounce canvas. We double the material, add four more layers at the bottom (which means your stakes have to chew through six layers of canvas to get out) and add a velcro closure and a polypropylene webbing handle. Accepts up to 20 16'' stakes. This bag will last a long time. $15.00
The "Portable Hole"
|
This is our version of a banner stand often seen in SCA encampments. It is made a piece of 1" angle iron, 1/8" thick and 24" long, with two rings welded to it at distances of 3" and 10" from the top end. These rings are fashioned from 1/4" rod stock and are 1-3/4" in diameter on the inside. This stand is perfect for anchoring any banners on poles; the banners can be easily removed and replaced in the sockets formed by the ring, as shown on the right. The "portable hole" is also often used for setting up temporary fences and light structures.

Firepit bags
Deluxe Firepit bag set
The perfect home for your firepit when it's traveling. Fits the Iron Castle firepit as well as ours. The set consists of a dish bag for the collapsed dish, a grill bag (also big enough for the fire grate and a few pieces of thin 2' x 2' plywood for ground protection) and a tripod bag. Every piece is made of heavy canvas, multiple-layered for maximum durability, with handles and closures. Our prototype is eight years old and still in good shape, and we tourney a lot! $60.00
Economy Firepit bag set
Like the ones you get from the other guys. Two bags with handles, one for the tripod and one for everything else, made of cotton duck but without closures. Good for light duty. $15.00
Leg extenders - these are made from 1/2" pipe and slip onto the bottoms of the tripod legs to raise the height of the bowl to about 18" off the ground. This makes for a more comfortable cooking height, and also allows the firepit to comply with local ordinances that may require this minimum height off the ground. $10.00 per set of three
Hub for spoke tents
One of the stumbling blocks to making your own spoke-and-hub pavilion is making the hubs. Now we're making these accurately machined hubs available to you for much less than the tooling and materials you'd need to buy to make a comparable unit yourself. These hubs are made from marine-grade plywood, with no voids. They are 11" in diameter and 2-1/4" thick, and normally come with a 2-1/2" hole for the center pole and 1-3/8" perimeter holes, drilled 2" deep, to accommodate 1-1/4" closet round stock which is readily available. Other hole dimensions are available at special request. The top and bottom perimeter and the edges of the center pole hole are rounded off to reduce the chance of splinters. When ordering, please specify the number of spoke holes desired and any deviation from the standard hole diameters and depths you require. $75.00
